Lanty Slee's Ambleside

WOW! My friend and I had a beef sharing board consisting of hangar steak, short rib and cottage pie, we also ordered truffle mac & cheese and chips. The whole thing was truly delicious! The short back rib was the highlight for me, so tasty and tender. The Mac & cheese was honestly the best I’ve had. I had two cocktails, “Fat washed smoked maple old fashioned” which was delicious and warming and my favourite the “I wish it was summer” a fruity pineapple based cocktail with rum. All of the staff were exceptional, extremely knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and really friendly. This place is a must if you’re near Ambleside!

Meat! The food here is so good. We ordered the beef platter as well as Caesar salad, broccoli and fries sides. Polished it all and could’ve eaten it again! One of the best meals I’ve had and even despite that, still had food envy looking at what other people were eating. The only downside is that the extractor isn’t strong enough even for the small room, but if you’re eating there it’s likely for the experience and the food is so good, that’s all that matters.

A gorgeous little find in the heart of Ambleside! For meat lovers, you can't go wrong, the beef sharing platter was delicious, rib eye, mini cottage pie, short ribs and bone marrow mash....a taste sensation accompanied by the best of cocktails made with their own genius twist. They clearly take great pride in what they do, with a perfect blend of humour, kindness and exceptional service. Gourmet greatness at its best. Booking essential, one can clearly see why!

We love Ambleside and we love steak so we had to try it. As we approached in the evening we could see the smokey atmosphere (literally) and were excited at what was ahead of us. We've been to some of the big, high profile steak restaurants recently, and have honestly been so disappointed. Thankfully Lantys has rekindled our love for this type of cooking. You can have the best cut of meat in the work but if you don't cook and season it right what's the point. The cook was perfect, the seasoning was perfect. My wife and I simply couldn't fault it. She had the fillet and I had the bone in Sirloin. Both melt in the mouth. The sides were gorgeous, but a day later we are still talking about the steaks and how perfect they were. Massive credit to the chef, the farmer and everyone involved with getting that from field to plate in a way that honours the animals sacrifice. Service team brilliant too. It's steak so it's never going to be cheap but we found it good value for the quality. We absolutely will be back despite the 200 mile round trip! Bravo!

The most amazing steak I’ve ever had!! Lovely quiet, intimate venue with a great atmosphere provided by the kitchen which was visible from the tables. Had a beautiful Cote De Beouf to share and it was cooked expertly. Honestly couldn’t fault the place. The true definition of farm to fork with a great, high quality vibe.

Really impressed with Lanty Slee’s. I ordered my steak rare, and for once it actually came out rare – you'd be surprised how many places get that wrong, even ones calling themselves steakhouses. So that was a great start. The sides were excellent too. The mash was the real standout – could’ve happily eaten a few bowls of that on its own. Chips were spot on – crispy, golden, no sogginess – and even the salad was fresh and crunchy. Cocktails were well made, and both staff members working were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout. I can see why people mention the smoke – it was noticeable – but since we were the only ones there, it didn’t bother us. Might be more of an issue when it’s busy, though. Overall, a really good experience. I'd definitely go back to try a different cut of steak!

Haven’t had a meal like that in a while. Absolutely amazing food. Both the lamb rump and bone in sirloin were cooked to perfection. The sides were a delight too. Of course we had to have a pudding and were equally as impressed with this. Nice to see an independent restaurant clearly doing well, with very hard working and attentive staff. Yes it’s a bit smokey inside so perhaps wear an outfit you don’t mind washing after if the smell offends you, but we felt it added to the atmosphere and was cool to have the open kitchen vibe.

Myself and my partner went here when staying in Ambleside. The food was absolutely incredible, probably one of the best meals we’ve had in a while. We both had the hanger steak and then got Mac n cheese, garlic mushrooms and fries. The cocktails were soooo good also and the host even made one based on my taste preference that wasn’t on the menu. Will definitely be back! Really enjoyed it and great atmosphere.
